Rosemary
Breen was born in London in the UK and
studied in Manchester and Fribourg
University in Switzerland. She taught in
England, Scotland and Switzerland before
coming to Australia in 1980 and settling
in Inverell. Rosemary taught in Inverell
and in an Aboriginal community to the
north of Broome before changing
direction and coordinating a local
respite group for families with children
with disabilities. This opened a whole
new area and, with her husband, she
became more involved in disability
services in the area.
Rosemary is currently involved on
various local management committees,
including the Women's Refuge and
Connections. She was convenor of the
Reconciliation group, the monthly
"Include Me In" disco for people with
disabilities and Sanctuary Inverell for
the resettlement of refugees.
Over the years, Rosemary and her late
husband traversed Australia on most of
the tracks and fell in love with the
Australian desert where they spent
several months on at least seven
occasions.
Bush-walking and reading are other
interests as well as welcoming visitors
from various parts of the world to
introduce them to the wonders and
beauties of Australia beyond Sydney and
the Gold Coast!
Rosemary will speak, along with Pauline
Bartholomew, at the
Frozen in
Time forum about the
Nhunta Karra Kara
