 The
Inverell Music Appreciation Group was formed in the later 1970's through
the initiative of Beth Woods. Membership has increased over the last few years and there are now 15 members.
In the first few years money was raised by the Group with the help of the Inverell Community to buy a grand piano which is currently in the Inverell Town Hall.
The Group exists primarily to bring professional musicians to Inverell to perform concerts and where applicable hold master classes and workshops. Usually the Group presents 3 or 4 concerts each year. Last year included the
'Babies Proms' concert from the Sydney Opera House; a piano recital by the American pianist Roman Rudnitsky and a performance of the light opera
'Die Fledermaus' by Co-opera.
Meetings are held monthly for the enjoyment and education of all who
enjoy listening to or participating in music. Members are invited to
present an evening of music of their own choice and this reflects a wide
variety of musical tastes.
