WHO WE ARE

The Historic Houses Trust is a statutory authority within the New South Wales Ministry for the Arts. It is one of the largest state museums in Australia and is entrusted with the care of key historic buildings and sites in New South Wales.

The Trust was established in 1980 to run Vaucluse House and Elizabeth Bay House and has now grown to manage 13 diverse sites and properties including houses, public buildings, a farm, gardens, parklands, a beach and urban spaces. The Trust holds extensive collections in each of its properties and conducts a dynamic range of programs and activities attracting over two million visitors to our houses and museums each year.
