Jenie Clough trained in fine arts and design at the Berkshire College of Art, Maidenhead, Berkshire England and attended courses at Central St. Martins in London while working as a freelance fashion artist.

In Australia she taught art in a voluntary capacity at her children’s primary school and painted ‘wearable art’ clothing which she sold at various boutiques.

After spending one year working at Masada College, St. Ives as the art assistant Jenie moved to Brigidine College where she worked for four and a half years. During this time she undertook, not only to complete the Art Gallery of NSW Diploma course, passing with distinction, but also trained as a volunteer guide for the Gallery.

Resigning from her position at Brigidine College gave Jenie the opportunity to spend more time painting and exploring new ideas in art-making. To further that aim, she has attended several courses at Ku-ring-gai Art Center, the Willoughby Arts Workshop and the Warringah Print studio and she has studied mixed media with Annette Pringle.

During the past few years Jenie Clough’s work has been exhibited at many galleries including The Carmichael Gallery, The Arts Workshop, Manly Gallery, ArtWorks - Newport, Sunset Gallery - Port Macquarie, the Inverell Gallery and MC Art - Neutral Bay, and she has entered work in various exhibitions. Her paintings are held in a number of Australian and overseas collections.

Jenie has conducted successful workshops in mixed media and taught children at her home studio.

This artist works by building up the surface of her paintings in layers using variously coloured papers, impasto and gel media, acrylics, watercolour paints, pastels and inks. Layering plays an important role in her work as she tries to create visual and tactile interest as well as a sense of mystery in each painting.

Currently, Jenie is concentrating on works that combine various modes of printing such as collographs, linocuts monoprints and solar prints with mixed media.
