Based on the novel by Joan Lindsay, this film, set in 1901, tells the story of three schoolgirls who mysteriously disappear while at a picnic with schoolmates. The film was made in 1975 and was the first Australian film to win widespread international critical acclaim. It also launched the careers of director, Peter Weir, and cinematographer, Russell Boyd, who went on to win a British Academy Award for his work on the film.

This restored version, the "Director's Cut", was completed twenty years after the original. It remains as compelling, haunting, and controversial today as it did upon its initial release thirty years ago. This is a rare chance to see this classic film on the big screen and listen to stories afterwards by Dominic Case, technical lab liaison on both versions of the film.
