Trisha believes photography to be far more about what's in your head than optics, f stops, apertures and whether you have digital or film camera - large or small format. 'Photography is not about the camera you have - it's primarily about light and composition.'

The evolution into digital images has made photography accessible to all, leading to the 'happy snap' mentality in its most basic form with its point and shoot approach - Trisha aims to show you how to create the most artistic images by being responsive to your environment - embracing the quixotic climate changes - looking at the intense light on the landscape during a storm - appreciating the changing skies and the beauty and subtlety of tones of black and white or sepia. Shooting into the sun and manoeuvring your body to the right position to get the best light can create stunning images.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to move from 'happy snapping' to taking more memorable images.

There are no specifics of camera equipment to bring - just whatever you are using - be it film, digital, tripod or medium format. Rather than a technical lesson, this will train your eye to see the world around you in a new light.

ABOUT TRISH DIXON

Trisha Dixon is a photographer-author who lectures on the art of photography both within Australia and abroad. The National Library of Australia has made a number of acquisitions of Trisha's images for their collection and have exhibited her work. Her photographs have also been featured in exhibitions, books, journals, cards and in lectures (including ADFAS ‘The Art of Photography’).

Trisha has travelled extensively throughout Australia photographing and documenting historic gardens and has consulted on a number of significant gardens. She has spent years documenting the gardens and plans of Australia's most distinguished landscape designer, Edna Walling culminating in two volumes as well as a number of other publications.

Trisha regularly holds photography workshops both throughout Australia and overseas – focusing on creating evocative images with either digital or film cameras. Her aim is to train the eye to take better photographs with an eye to composition and light rather than get baffled by the technology of the camera.

Trisha is on the Board of the Powerhouse Museum of Sydney and lives with her husband and family on an historic Monaro grazing property at the foothills of the Snowy Mountains in NSW.
